During this trip, you’ll have the chance to observe some of the 28 species of cetaceans identified in the waters around the Azores. Throughout the approximately three-hour boat excursion, you’ll be in the presence of whales and dolphins, witnessing their natural behaviors in their ocean habitat. In addition to these incredible marine mammals, it’s common to spot turtles, a variety of seabirds, and other fascinating marine species, making every moment on the water an exciting opportunity for discovery and photography.
Before setting off, our knowledgeable biologists provide an informative briefing about the cetacean species you may encounter. They explain important safety measures for being on board and guide you on how to observe the animals responsibly, following the rules designed to protect both the wildlife and the visitors. Absolute highlight of my trip I went whale watching a few days ago and honestly it was the best experience ever and without a doubt the highlight of my entire São Miguel Azores trip. We saw freaking orcas. Not just briefly or from far away. The crew really gave it their all to make sure we could see them, and the orcas were super active and absolutely mind-blowing. I was completely blown away. It was so, so, so amazing. What I really appreciated was how ethical and respectful the whole experience was. There are very clear rules on how the animals are approached, for example only from behind and with proper distance. As soon as we were close to the orcas, the engine was turned off so they would not be disturbed. You could really tell that the well-being of the animals always comes first. The whales are also spotted from land-based viewpoints rather than using any methods that could stress or interfere with them, which gave me a really good feeling about the tour. On top of that, two marine biologists were on board and they were fantastic. Super knowledgeable, passionate, and they shared really interesting information throughout the trip. One personal highlight for me was that I was allowed to put my GoPro into the water. One of the marine biologists even kindly lent me her underwater case for a while, which allowed me to capture incredible videos of the orcas. That was truly unforgettable. Overall, an absolutely perfect experience. Emotional, respectful, and incredibly well run. Highly recommended. 🌊🐋✨

Just do it! We went on the zodiac boat tour on our last day on the island and i could have done it the entire day. just the magical landscape in the back surrounded by dolphins was magical. The staff was great, fun and gave a lot of information about the species, when and where they are usually to meet. They also provide you with water resistant coats and trousers if you don‘t have them with you so you can safe that space in your luggage.

It was amazing experience to see the whales and dolphins. I absolutely enjoyed it, and was so happy to see it. We tried our luck two times and unfortunately due to the weather first time our trip was cancelled and we rebooked it for the following day. On the bought was quite a lot of people but was quite nice still, and you could see pretty much everything. Tickets for person around 70€ and i definitely can say that for this money you can do better job! On the bought were around 4-5 persons of stuff who was supposed to guide us and to tell more about whales that we saw, but unfortunately all of them were stuck together in the front and had a chats between themselves. I didn't like it personally. As well one more thing that I could not understand, we saw few (3-4) whales water breeze far away where were around 2 small ships, and we ignored that and went on the different direction.

Whale watching and dolphin watching on a rib. Amazing experience. We were lucky enough to see three whales and three types of dolphin. Sette Citades was also an amazing experience As was Furnas.

Unforgettable adventures with a top-notch team. Futurismo made our Azores trip truly special. Kayaking inside a volcanic crater surrounded by lush slopes was surreal. Their whale-watching tours were outstanding: we saw four dolphin species and a Bryde’s whale and calf, all guided by passionate marine experts who explained the unique ocean conditions around the islands. Weather forced a few changes, but Futurismo’s flexibility meant we could easily reschedule both our RIB and catamaran trips. Their team was friendly, informative, and clearly committed to sustainable tourism. We missed snorkeling at Ilhéu do Vila Franca due to water quality, but everything else exceeded expectations. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore the Azores with knowledgeable, caring guides. We’ll be back for more!
